Every year, the Albany Center Gallery has a “Member’s Show” where artists can feature one artwork apiece. Today is drop-off day at the Gallery, and until last month, I had considered entering my disappearing Christmas tree photo Ran Out of Firewood, or maybe my prism-altered Atomic Tulips.
That changed when, three weeks ago, I caught this image of the annular solar eclipse.

In that one shutter-tap, this picture just pushed the other two compositions away. 24 hours after capturing this image, I already sent a request to McGreevy Pro Lab (my pro lab of choice) to create a 16×20 print.
Once I returned to Albany and received the finished print, I had the artwork framed up. Damn. This looks stunning.
So when the Albany Center Gallery hosts its “Members’ Show” next month, One Eclipse Over Texas will be part of the gallery event. Its debut appearance, if you will.
It’s almost like the day your kid appears in their first school play. You just hope that your kid doesn’t mess up the lines or bump into a piece of the stage and knock something over.
You’re on stage now. It’s time to shine.
Even through those clouds.
It looks a bit like a diamond ring in the sky.
